View the Actual Costs BOM
Tips:
If you are an administrative user, you can view the project's bills of material (BOMs) with WBS/control account assignments. Select in the Navigation Menu to display the BOM tab. Select your project from the dropdown in the Ribbon Menu to display the list of BOMs.
Only administrative users can make changes to the project's BOMs. This includes adding or deleting parts or assemblies as well as updating a manufacturer, quantity, or unit price in the BOMs.
Prerequisites
- When you are sharing data with BOEMax, you have imported the BOEMax project to create your EVMax project. The import process includes the project's BOMs and WBS/control account assignments.
- When you are not sharing data with BOEMax, you have created the project's BOMs, created the applicable Material assumption type work packages with the Quantities earned value technique, assigned a material resource, and selected the applicable BOM line items to determine the budget base value. Once a part or assembly is selected from a BOM for a material work package, the Assignment column in the BOM displays the applicable work breakdown structure (WBS)/control account so it is easy to identify the work packages with material resource assignments.
The following steps assume you are using the Standard View Ribbon Menu option to view the detail BOM data and actual costs are at the work package level. The BOM data includes the manufacturer, quantity, unit of measure, unit price, part total, and total. For the actual costs view, the Resource BOM window also includes the actual quantity, actual unit price, and actual total.
- Select in the Navigation Menu. The main EVMax window displays.
- Select your project from the dropdown in the Ribbon Menu.
- Expand the WBS hierarchy as needed to view the work packages.
- Select the material work package row assigned the in the top pane.
-
Select the Resources tab in the bottom pane. This enables the BOM option in the Ribbon Menu. The left pane displays the Budget, Earned, Actuals, and Forecast tabs.
Tip:
If the BOM option in the Ribbon Menu isn't enabled for the work package row you selected, verify the work package assumption type is set to "Material" (Work Package tab, Add/Edit tab) and the earned value technique is set to "Quantities" (Work Package tab, Status EVT tab). If they are set to something else, the BOM option to isn't available for that work package.
- Select the Actuals tab. A list of the resources assigned to the work package displays in the left pane.
- Click in the Ribbon Menu. The Resource BOM window displays a list of the project's BOMs parts and assemblies assigned to the work package. This is typically the parts and assemblies used to determine the work package budget data. Imported actual costs details may reflect different parts or assemblies that were recorded in the applicable business system when the work was performed.
- Optional. Click in the Ribbon Menu to view any assembly details.
- Optional. Enter the actual quantity and actual unit cost data for the work package.
- Click in the cell for each row and enter the actual quantity value.
- Click in the cell for each row and enter the actual unit cost.
Click to return to the EVMax window.
Tip:
Verify the actual quantity and actual unit cost you enter is consistent with the actual costs you imported. Entering an actual quantity and actual unit cost in the Resource BOM window will update the total actual costs.
- Optional. To view the actual cost data, select the Spreads tab in the right pane of the Actuals tab.
